PayPal has hired Lawrence Chan as vice president of Asia Pacific New Ventures and general manager for Southeast Asia and India.
Chan will lead the regional business strategy, sales, partnerships and merchant adoption of PayPal's payment solutions. He will also be in charge of expanding the geographic reach of the company.
His most recent position was senior vice president and general manager of global payment option (Asia, Europe, Africa) at American Express International. His 17-year financial career includes Bank of America, American International Assurance and Visa International.
Chan replaces Brad Paterson, former region head of New Ventures and Elias Ghanem, who held the general manager for Southeast Asia and India position. He will report to Rohan Mahadevan, PayPal's vice president of Asia.
