Malaysia-based UNITAR International University (UNITAR) and security solutions firm IS-Seraya AVS have signed an agreement to enhance IT and IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) skills among Malaysian IT graduates.

"With this MoU [memorandum of agreement], we will now be able to offer internships to our business and IT students of UNITAR International University and collaborate with IS-Seraya AVS in transforming UNITAR graduates into international recognised professionals," said UNITAR International University operator Unitar Capital's chief executive officer, Wan Ahmad Saifuddin Wan Ahmad Radzi.

"One of the challenges is the availability of qualified and certified engineers who will help organisations - governments and enterprises, to harness the opportunities of IPv6, which is why the MoU today with us at UNITAR is relevant," said Wan Ahmad Saifuddin during the MoU signing between himself and YBhg. Datuk Khairil Anuar Akhiruddin, chief executive officer of IS-Seraya AVS, which was witnessed by YB Datuk Seri Dr. Suleiman Mohamed, chairman of Unitar Capital.

The agreement includes the promotion of IPv6 and an Innovation Lab with UNITAR International University to enhance UNITAR graduates as internationally recognised professionals with IPv6 certification. The IPv6 professional certification will be embedded into the current academic programme (undergraduate and postgraduate) of Faculty of Business and Information Technology (FBIT) as well as internships for UNITAR students with IS-Seraya AVS's IT partners.

Within the framework of the agreement, both companies will also include cooperation for a period of two years with CNE6 (certified network engineer) and other certification training including areas such as IPv6, cyber security, mobile computing and cloud computing

"Together with providing them these kind of opportunities with IS-Seraya AVS, we have opened up our graduates' possibilities to 'see with new eyes,' which fosters them with the best characteristics and bringing out the best in them; as a thinker, communicator and as a good team player" said Wan Ahmad Saifuddin.

Established 1887, UNITAR International University's (UNITAR's) main campus located at Leisure Commerce Square, Petaling Jaya and its collaboration with numerous independent regional centres across the country allows a population of more than 9,000 students to study 60 academic programmes.
