German electronics group Rohde & Schwarz yesterday inaugurated its Asian headquarters in Singapore.
Called Das Spektrum, the SGD$58 million (US$46.2 million) facility is located at Changi Business Park. According to the Munich-based company's media statement, the 12,747 square metre facility will be home to two entities:
- Rohde & Schwarz Asia - A global hub for research, development, production, global sourcing and supply chain management in the areas of test and measurement, broadcasting, secure communications, radiomonitoring and radiolocation for its regional business partners.
- Regional Headquarters Asia - A regional hub that coordinates business activities such as IT, marketing and business development in the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East and Africa.
According to Rohde & Schwarz President and CEO Manfred Fleischmann, Asia's mobile communications business holds "immense potential" for growth. To support this growth, Rohde & Schwarz plans to increase their headcount —which currently stands at 350 — in the next three years. The company will be doing so by working closely with local universities and government authorities to offer internships and study opportunities to Asian graduates, said Lim.
