Samsung Electronics has appointed Jae Hoon Kwon as its Australian managing director following the departure of SR Yoon.

Within the role, Kwon will lead the vendor's strategic direction and day-to-day operations. He joins the local team following a two-year stint as managing director of Samsung's Malaysian office.

Kwon brings with him more than 20 years of expertise in the consumer industry at managerial, sales and marketing levels. His experience spans much of the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

Kwon is a replacement for SR Yoon, who returned to Korea to fill a role within Samsung's digital appliance business at its headquarters in Seoul. Yoon was appointed by Samsung Australia in August 2009.

Commenting on his appointment, Kwon said, "This year promises to be yet another year of impressive innovation for Samsung and I look forward to helping lead it to even greater heights."
