Energy management specialist Schneider Electric has announced a new country president for Malaysia to lead its expansion in the country.
Schneider Electric zone president of East Asia Zeljko Kosanovic said Malaysian national, Soo Pow Leong, who has just completed taking a two-year role as vice president of ETO [engineering to order] in China, is taking over from the previous Malaysia country head, industry veteran Peter Cave, who is relocating to Australia.
"Soo has more than 20 years of experience in the electrical distribution industry," said Kosanovic. "He has also taken on various roles from project management, commercial sales to strategy and marketing in France and China."
"In the past two years, he led Schneider Electric's Equipment Cluster in Asia Pacific where he managed seven equipment plants located in five countries and finally in 2013, heading the ETO (engineering to order) business in China," he said.
"Soo's experience in leading organisations through change management that resulted in corporate growth, makes him the ideal candidate to lead Schneider Electric Malaysia," said Kosanovic. "With his passion and commitment to excellence, Soo's leadership will continue to guide and adapt the business in this ever-changing economic environment; and create awareness and preference for the Schneider Electric brand."
In his new role as country president of Schneider Electric Malaysia, Soo will oversee all strategic initiatives and operational efficiency in the country while leading the company towards successful revenue and organic growth, he added.
Soo said that with the recent announcement energy tariff hike in Malaysia, Schneider Electric is well-positioned to help organisations and individuals in the country to enhance their use of energy.
"This is a timely reminder for businesses to re-consider their operating strategies and start looking into long-term energy efficiency solutions to turn the tide around," he said. "While the tariff hikes may put a dent on financial record in many organisations, this adversity can be channeled into an investment with appropriate energy management standards."
"The hallmark of Schneider Electric is the way we deliver to our customers genuinely to help people and our commitment to be the architect of efficiency in every sector of Malaysian economy," said Soo.
