Singapore has experienced an increase in hiring activity in the technology sector over the last 12 months, according to the global recruitment firm Michael Page International.

More companies across Singapore are expanding their operations and require additional in-house technical support as the volume of job opportunities for technology professionals continues to increase in the nation.

Michael Page International's annual Salary and Employment Forecast for Singapore is based on the survey responses of more than 400 hiring managers across the country.

Findings from the report indicates a high demand for management roles in SAP, Cognos and data integration, as companies aim to streamline global contact databases with systems such as ERP and CRM.

Companies in Singapore that are undertaking global system upgrades are also searching for professionals skilled in system implementation and project management, says Michael Page.

Retention of staff

Average salary increases of four to six percent will be awarded to retain staff over the coming 12 months. Professionals can expect higher salaries if they are skilled in areas such as Cognos, SAP and ERP.

Currently, Singapore companies are also actively searching for those skilled in systems integration and network support as they can help coordinate new technical infrastructure upgrades that are taking place since the world was hit by the recent economic crisis.

Michael Page International's forecast also shows increased demand for professionals in SAP and Cognos from the growing number of multinational companies basing their regional headquarters in Singapore.
