Disruptive open source search and analytics firm Elasticsearch has appointed former Splunk executive Gaurav Guptas as new vice president, product management.
Gaurav jumped ship after five years as product leader at Splunk.
Before Splunk, Gupta worked in product and strategy roles at Google, Gateway and the McKenna Group.
Gupta said ,with 500,000 downloads every month, Elasticsearch was building something truly disruptive.
"I couldn't be more thrilled to join the company at such an exciting time, and look forward to translating our vision into products that continue to allow our customers to leverage all of their data like never before," he said.
Elastisearch co-founder and chief technology officer, Shay Banon, said the company focus was all about products.
"Elasticsearch is building something bigger than any one technology and so I'm excited to have someone like Gaurav on board, who shares our vision and is going to play an instrumental role in taking our products to the next level," he said.
In the past four months, the company launched its first commercial product, Elasticsearch Marvel.
It also debuted its flagship product, Elasticsearch 1.0 and released a new version of Logstash, Logstash 1.4 , to put it into a position to meet the vision of actionable insights from all the data across a business.
Bloomberg, The New York Times, Facebook, GitHub, Netflix, Yelp, Verizon, McGraw-Hill, WordPress, Atlassian and SoundCloud all use Elasticsearch to store, search and analyze any type of data in real time.
While at Splunk, Gupta was responsible for the overall user experience of the company's core enterprise product, including its indexing, search and analytics technology.
He also led the development of the company's Cloud and online offerings, including Splunk Storm, Splunk Apps and Splunk Answers.
