Telekom Malaysia supports social media week 2012

Malaysian telco Telekom Malaysia (TM) is supporting Malaysia Social Media Week, February 13- 17 inclusive, as the official broadband provider of the event, it said.

The inaugural Malaysia Social Media Week 2012 (MSMW 2012) is a national event, which is being held at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) to bring together social media communities in the country, according to TM chief marketing officer Dato' Rozalila Abd. Rahman.

Rozalila said that TM is also sponsoring the 'Social Media Champion Award' for The World Bloggers & Social Media Awards 2012 to recognise, reward and honour the top social media champion for contributions to the social media landscape.

"As Malaysia's broadband champion, it is natural for TM to give our support towards this event and with youth being the main target group, this is indeed the way to enhance their knowledge and encourage their use of Internet while at the same time educating them on the vast benefits of a connected world, which allows them to connect, communicate and collaborate," she said. "This [support] is one of our various initiatives to create awareness on the importance of social media among the public, how it affects our daily life and the responsibilities that come with being a Netizen. Through this platform, we are also able to boost the Internet usage amongst Malaysians towards realising Government's aspiration of establishing an ICT literate nation."

"We are already active with our Twitter accounts, the EveryoneConnects lifestyle portal as well as the EveryoneConnects Facebook page," said Rozalila. "Via these channels, we are able to reach out to our customers and listen to their feedback giving us the opportunity to further enhance our offerings and deliver an enriched and integrated digital lifestyle and customer experience."
