With the launch of three new bio-analytical measurement instruments, food manufacturers and related institutions such as importers and exporters in Malaysia can avoid financial risks resulting from allegations of food fraud or safety breaches, according to measurement solutions provider Agilent Technologies.
Speaking at the end of September during the recent Lab Asia 2011 in Malaysia, Agilent Malaysia country manager, life sciences and chemical analysis, Soh Lam Seng said the new spectroscopy and mass Spectrometry Instruments would help Malaysia avoid occurrences such as the recent allegations of contamination in Malaysian-produced birds' nests.
"The Agilent Cary 630 Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer - the world's smallest and lightest FTIR [Fourier transform infrared - a measurement technique] spectrometer, the Agilent 4100 Microwave Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometer, a breakthrough elemental analysis instrument that runs entirely on air and the Agilent 7200 Q-TOF (quadrupole time-of-flight) gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) system that is based on the world's best-selling gas chromatography instrument," said Soh.
"These new bio-analytical measurement instruments will help scientists and chemists conducting research and analysis in various industries, including chemical, pharmaceutical and the academia on applications ranging from food fraud, food safety, environmental and energy testing," he said.
