WD opens first Digital Life Store in Malaysia

Digital storage firm Western Digital (WD) has opened its first WD Digital Life Store in Malaysia on the island of Penang,

"Data consumption is on the rise and such storage solutions are of utmost importance in ensuring that data is always protected and that it can be easily accessed through an interactive  network," said WD sales director, Asia South, Margaret Koh. "The first WD Digital Life Store in Malaysia will provide Malaysians an avenue that will conveniently allow them to experience WD's comprehensive range of storage and entertainment solutions all in one place."

Located at 1st Avenue Mall, Penang, the store includes WD's full range of storage devices as well as a full interactive shopping experience, said Koh. "Consumers can expect an exciting array of activities when they visit the WD Digital Life Store such as demonstrations of WD TV Live Hub media centre, a Full-HD 1080p media player with a 1 terabyte (TB) built-in network hard drive that gives users the freedom to play all their personal media on any screen in the home; WD Photo photo viewer app, which enables remote access to content stored on their WD network drive from their portable device, anywhere in the world; as well as an exhibition of the WD SmartWare software."


Shared storage on home network

In addition, she said newly launched products will also be showcased in the WD Digital Life Store first hand, such as the new My Book Live personal cloud storage. "My Book Live provides shared storage on home network that can be accessed wirelessly within and outside the home. Share files with Mac computers and PCs, stream media to entertainment centre, and access files remotely with the WD 2go app and website."

"Another highlight in the Penang Digital Life Store is to showcase WD internal hard drives," said Koh. "WD has introduced the WD Caviar Blue, WD Caviar Green and WD Caviar Black internal hard drives, designed to help end-users easily make the right choice when they shop for a hard drive. WD Caviar Blue hard drives are designed for desktop performance and reliability and are ideal for everyday user or business computing. WD Caviar Green drives offer significant power saving and are ideal for environmentally friendly PCs and external storage applications. WD Caviar Black drives represent maximum desktop performance and are ideal for power computing applications."
