Asia Pacific public sector: Growing appetites for disruptive innovations

In this exclusive interview, Gerald Wang, Research Manager, IDC Government Insights, Asia/Pacific, discusses the ICT trends in Asia Pacific public sector in the light of the recently released IDC Government Insights’ report, “Pivot Table: Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) Public Sector IT Spending 2013–2018

-          Smart education and personalized learning initiatives: In the emerging economies in the region, personalized learning will manifest itself through the increase in uptake of m-learning. The combination of strong demand for distance learning with the supply of mobile technologies growing at a much more rapid pace than fixed-line access to voice and data services is expected to drive fast growth of m-learning. In the mature economies, especially at the tertiary level, ICT is not only supporting seamless access to content, but also triggering a new model of learning that is more personalized. The combination of Big Data, which can better predict and adapt learning paths to student requirements, and blended learning environments, which offer seamless learning experience to students, will open up new learning scenarios in the Asia/Pacific in the next two years.
