Conversant Solutions - a provider of hybrid content delivery networks (CDN) services and solutions in Asia - has enabled Singapore telco StarHub to live stream the Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley fight last Sunday (10 April 2016).
Thanks to Conversant's hybrid CDN service, StarHub's customers were able to watch the fight in near real-time on the StarHub Go iOS, Android and Window Mobile app.
"Conversant's hybrid SwiftServe CDN service enables us to support high-quality, adaptive bit rate video delivery of this highly anticipated live boxing event to our customers. We are able to expand our CDN delivery capacity on demand, which gives us flexibility in offering OTT video services to our customers. This also helps us to efficiently manage the cost of delivering large scale, one-time live streaming events," said Lin Shu Fen, Head of Family Segment and HubLife at StarHub.
Besides StarHub, other telcos across Asia have also deployed Conversant's hybrid CDN service to offer a high quality over the top (OTT) video service to their subscribers. According to Conversant, its hybrid CDN architecture allows telcos to have control over on-net video delivery, while at the same time leverage the resources of the largest CDN Federation in Asia to handle peak demand. This allows telcos to provide their subscribers with a high-quality content experience on any device, anywhere, said Cheong Kong Wai, CEO and Founder of Conversant.
