Unified communications enhances staff’s productivity when mobile while saving on international call cost

Dimension Data has been selected by a leading beverage manufacturer in Hong Kong to migrate its traditional PABX systems to a unified communications (UC) platform, said the global ICT solutions and services provider in a statement.

The UC platform will enhance employee mobility and their communication productivity by an expected 30%, Dimension Data said.

According to the statement, the manufacturer's PABX was reaching end-of-life, making it a perfect time to upgrade its communications system to meet the growing demands of a mobile workforce. With more than 1,000 employees in Hong Kong, and a production line that produces millions of cases of beverages annually, the manufacturer found it critical to provide its employees with effective ways of communicating and collaborating.

The new unified communications platform aims to provide secure, reliable communications for effective collaboration to support its massive business operations. In consultation with the client, Dimension Data recommended a unified communications platform consisting of a Cisco IPT system and Cisco Jabber, with Cisco Unified Communications Manager Version 10.0 at the core. In addition, voice and data recording services will be delivered by Dimension Data.

With a full Telepresence integration planned for the future, this unified communications infrastructure will enable the manufacturer's employees to enjoy business-class IP voice and video telephony with the flexibility to communicate and collaborate efficiently anytime, anywhere on any smart mobile device, Dimension Data said. This is expected to lead to a saving of 50% on IDD calls for the company.
