Forrester: 1st AP Tech Distribution Survey (February 2013)

Analysts at Forrester Research released on Wednesday (February 27, 2013) the findings of their 1st Asia Pacific Tech Distributor Business Confidence Index Tracker Survey. In a statement to the press, they said that the "distributors [in Asia Pacific, AP] are positive about the economy improving in the coming months and expect 2013 to be a better year than 2012." In this region, they said, we should expect to see "China and ASEAN [leading] distributor growth in the region with 10 percent and 9 percent growth in 2013 respectively."

The analysts at Forrester also said that "the move [by enterprise customers] towards cloud and mobile devices [adoption and deployment] will put increasing pressure on distributors' profitability," which, "is a big concern for distributors, as they feel that growing adoption of cloud and mobility will negatively affect profits."

They also had a word of advice for tech vendors, who, they believe, "need to look at a flexible or annuity-based pricing models that can help distributors and their resellers adapt" to a shift in preference by consumers from capex to opex models of investment in technology.
