Huawei pulls plug on NBN project teams

Huawei Australia chairman John Lord says the controversial Chinese telecommunications equipment vendor has all but given up hope of supplying the national broadband network, even though its status may be reviewed after the federal election.

"The bottom line is that Huawei uses the best commercial funding arrangements we can from wherever they are," Mr Lord said. "We don't have those sophisticated arrangements with Australian banks, [but] when you look at the strengths of our banks and our economy, it's a no-brainer to get down here."
