Business partners can now port, test and optimise solutions.

KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 25 2008First tier IBM distributor First Solution Sdn Bhd (FSSB) has opened an Innovation Centre in Kuala Lumpur to provide start up facilities for its partners and users.

Based at Menara SMI, Kuala Lumpur, the First Solution Innovation Centre (FSIC) aims to provide FSSBs business partners, and their end users, with access to startup facilities, proof of concept, application testing, applications porting and training activities, according to the company.

The centre was opened by IBM Malaysia managing director, Ou Shian Waei, and Formis Resources Berhad chief executive officer, Dato Mah Siew Kwok.

FSSB general manager Tiew Chew Yan explained that systems in the centre include the first IBM BladeCenter and Storage Solution Centre, powered by IBM System x, IBM System p and IBM System Storage.

FSSB is a subsidiary of Formis Resources Berhad, a public listed company under the Technology sector of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad. FSSB was established in 1996 to specifically focus on distributing IBM UNIX servers and Storage Systems.

Optimising solutions

FSSB has the widest range of IBM Blades powered by Intel, AMD and Power Processor and IBM System x rack-based servers, which are built on IBM X-Architecture for enterprise-class reliability, said Tiew.

X-Architecture is the IBM blueprint for bringing innovation to x86 systems - innovation that helps set customers apart from the competition. The launching of this centre is also an expansion of IBMs strategy to support and develop business partners locally and to accelerate the deployment of these partners solutions and services to the marketplace.

Speaking on behalf of IBM Malaysia, Ou said: "The opening of this innovation centre is a testament of IBMs commitment to supporting and collaborating with the business partners to generate more innovative solutions for our clients. A key focus is working with IBM Business Partners to provide them with easy access to IBM skills and equipment, to help them migrate, test and optimise their applications.

Tiew said, While the generic needs for hardware, software applications and porting are fulfilled, FSSB has also invested in the latest IBM Blade Solutions Technology in order to keep ourselves abreast towards customers demands. We also provide co-marketing support in order to help them gain footprints in the marketplace.
