Netflix's plans start from HK$63 and S$10.98 per month in Hong Kong and Singapore respectively.

"We remain sensitive to preferences of members where we operate. Netflix will continue to make market-specific decisions based on the preferences of our members. You may see some content behind a PIN in certain markets where such a practice is expected by our members or required by applicable law," a Netflix spokesperson told Channel NewsAsia.

Singapore telcos and pay-TV providers Singtel and StarHub are keen on teaming up with Netflix.

"We are exploring a partnership with Netflix, so that our viewers will have the widest selection of content with the convenience of their StarHub set-top box," said StarHub in a statement yesterday (7 January 2015).

"We see Netflix as complementary to our Pay-TV services," said Mr Goh Seow Eng, managing director, Home, Consumer Singapore, Singtel. "In view of offering even more quality content, we will be working closely with Netflix to deliver great promotions to our customers. They can look forward to enjoying Netflix content on us soon, alongside our varied suite of quality entertainment for the family."
