The automotive market looks set to take off as organisations realise the untapped potential of machine-to-machine technology.

Challenging but not without its rewards

To optimise this technological innovation for the automotive industry which consists of a wide range of consumer and commercial vehicles, an adaptive, cloud-based service delivery platform is essential. The automotive sector involves long development cycles for each model. Costly upfront investment is needed to support hardware and telemetry systems, which is all happening in an uncertain regulatory context. It will be a huge challenge for the M2M providers to deliver seamless implementation and quality service. However, the potential benefits of smarter M2M-equipped cars for the service provider, automotive manufacturer and tomorrow's motorists, are immense.

For the automotive industry as a whole, there is the potential for greater efficiency, improved business processes and innovative new business models. With lower costs, faster response times, higher revenues and better service levels, everybody wins.
