F.Y. Teng | Jan. 7, 2013
Bangladesh's second largest airline has entered a two-year deal with the provider of information-based travel solutions.

Last week saw Regent Airways, the second largest airline in Bangladesh, sign on Abacus International as its first distribution partner. According to senior executives from both companies, the deal, which was announced on Thursday (January 3, 2013), should accelerate Regent Airways' efforts at beefing up its presence across Asia.

"As we continue to expand within Bangladesh and internationally, we are confident that Abacus' strength and experience in distribution across Asia Pacific will help us achieve the growth that we are aiming for," said Akthar Ahmed, Director, Marketing & Sales at the Chittagong-based Regent Airways, on Thursday. "Working with Abacus will also allow us to build our brand and establish ourselves as an airline with not only the highest standards but one that continually raises the bar in the industry."

For its part, Abacus International also sees this arrangement as an essential part of its business strategy for Asia. "Bangladesh has been a significant growth market for Abacus and we are extremely pleased to be a player to stimulate further growth in the country's aviation development," said Ho Hoong Mau, Division Head, Airline Distribution, at Abacus International.
