Starting an online store used to be an expensive and complex experience. Not anymore.
Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel) is going to change this with a new offering. The telco has announced it will offer Shopify's highly successful eCommerce solution in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and India.
Available from S$17 per month, the solution is an easy and affordable way for individuals and SMEs to set up beautiful online shops within minutes. The system will allow customers to pay through secure credit card payments for goods and services.
According to SingTel, with Shopify's web-based solution, digital storefronts can be set up and ready for business with a few mouse clicks. Merchants can customise their online storefronts, keep track of orders and manage customer data via a web browser. The websites can be managed on-the-move via Shopify's smartphone app.
SingTel is working with payment providers in each country to enable transactions in local currencies by September. SingTel will provide local hotline technical support 24x7 and also help in a range of optional services such as search engine marketing, social network integration, inventory management and email marketing capabilities.
"SingTel is excited by the tremendous growth opportunities in the eCommerce market," said Loo Cheng Chuan, SingTel Group Digital Life's Head (LocalL!fe). "By 2015, 35 percent of Internet users in the Asia Pacific region will make purchases online, and 30 percent of these transactions will be performed on a mobile device."
"We're really excited to announce this partnership with SingTel," said Harley Finkelstein, Shopify's Chief Platform Officer. "SingTel is the ideal partner for us, as we're both focused on helping small businesses succeed in today's global economy. Together, we can help millions of small businesses and individuals build profitable online shops."
