Chinese maker will install Norwegian vendor’s solutions in its smart television set models

The Chinese television set maker Skyworth Digital Hotldings now seeks a significant presence in the global market for smart TV sets and will install in its models Web TV solutions by Opera Software ASA to help achieve this strategic objective.

Opera Software is an Oslo-based provider whose solutions are now installed in many smart TV models sold internationally by various vendors.

A press statement by the Norwegian vendor said the solutions Skyworth has chosen are the Opera Devices Software Development Kit (SDK) Opera TV Store, and Opera TV browser.

Market Penetration

Skyworth is said to be the leader in the Chinese domestic market for television sets and is now expanding its sights to target global markets as well, through a range of smart TV set models.

Its first smart TV set model to be marketed internationally will be the Skyworth39E36 which will be available in Latin America this Q2.

To attract buyers in its first international market foray, the Skyworth 39E36 will feature a variety of local TV channels and online content customised for television screens through the HTML 5-based Opera TV Store.
