Telcos could walk out on ‘inflexible’ NBN, iiNet warns

David Ramli (via AFR) | July 4, 2013
NBN Co will be abandoned by the telecommunications industry unless it gets its act together and lowers wholesale prices charged to telcos.

"With [being a utility] comes a level of inflexibility." But he also said Mr Dalby's statement - that telcos held the advantage - was entirely correct.

NBN Co spokesman said the company was working with the ACCC and the industry for the best interests of families and businesses across Australia .

"Without the work of service providers marketing NBN plans, it's actually very hard to get take-up," he said.

"If we can't get these commercial agreements bedded down, when the fibre service areas are completed and we start shutting down copper, there is potential for either a lot of disruption or service providers putting customers on with anger in their hearts."
