The recruitment war

Ross O. Storey | Feb. 23, 2009
James Mendes, Managing Director of Asia Pacific, Alexander Mann Solutions (AMS) shares his thoughts about the current IT recruitment environment

Now is a time for careful action and forward planning economic conditions will improve, and organisations need to be prepared to take advantage of any upswing. Investing in internal talent will pay dividends in the long run, and has a number of short-term benefits as well.

Salary levels will stabilise, however the bonus or incentive component of executive and employee remuneration will be very closely and very directly linked with the companys financial performance.

Is there anything else you'd particularly like to add about the IT industry employment and salary scenario in the Asia Pacific which you think should be included in our article?

The world is not through this financial crisis yet, but there are some positives amongst the doom and gloom. Innovation is driven through necessity, strong leadership emerges in times of trouble, and the greatest success stories often come out of hardship. Companies that outperform the market and their competitors will be those that are built on solid foundations -an investment in talent during these difficult times will reap rewards when the economic upturn begins to take effect.
