Outsourcing deal will provide Volvo with app maintenance services and development.

India’s Tech Mahindra Ltd has been chosen by Sweden’s Volvo Car Corporation to be its strategic partner for application maintenance and development.

This means the Indian company that specialises in IT, engineering and business services will provide Volvo Cars with services to maintain applications and to develop new applications that will help make Volvo Cars’ operations efficient and reduce business costs.

The services and application development will involve several businesses in Volvo Car’s operations, including manufacturing, product development, marketing, sales and reporting.

“Tech Mahindra was selected for its proven track record of delivering largescale application maintenance and development and for its global reach and scale,” said Vikram Nair, Head - Europe, Tech Mahindra.

Nair said the outsourcing deal will be an opportunity for Tech Mahindra to “further develop (its) business in the region.”

To harness this opportunity, Tech Mahindra said it would invest in the region and recruit from both local universities and the local business domain pool.
