Samsung Electronics' Samsung KNOX, a secure Android platform for enterprise, is now available for customers in Singapore.
Key mobile operators and partners that offer Samsung KNOX are SingTel, StarHub, M1, Qool Labs, M.Tech, Malifax and Trusted Source, the electronics company said in a statement on Wednesday.
Samsung KNOX is an end-to-end Android security platform for companies that require a secure and robust mobility solution. The solution, according to Samsung, strikes a fine balance between enterprise control and employees' personal data privacy, providing security hardening from the hardware through to the operating system (OS) and application layer.
"Companies can now deploy Android devices for enterprise usage as Samsung KNOX is built to meet the rigorous demands of secure mobility needs," said Andy Sim, General Manager, Enterprise Business, Samsung Asia. "KNOX fortifies Android by leveraging the hardware to deliver one of the highest levels of platform security and data protection. Coupled with the container feature, KNOX offers an intuitive, dual-persona segregation between work and play to support BYOD needs."
"We are also supported by strong alliances with our partners, who have signed up to offer KNOX to enterprises. Together, we bring a differentiated mobility proposition and business advantage to enterprise customers," Sim added.
Compatible with existing common enterprise infrastructure such as MDM, VPN and directory services, KNOX relieves application developers from the burden of developing individual enterprise features such as FIPS compliant VPN, on-device encryption, Enterprise Single Sign On (SSO), Active Directory support and Smart Card based multi-factor authentication, the company's statement noted.
Samsung KNOX is available on Samsung GALAXY S4, GALAXY Note 3, GALAXY Note 10.1 2014 Edition (LTE version) devices, as well as the upcoming GALAXY NotePRO and TabPRO line of tablets.
