Sony Xperia Tablet S arrives in Singapore

Madura McCormack | Dec. 21, 2012
The Android powered tablet will sell for S$749 (US$613) at authorised outlets starting today

A last minute entry into the Christmas shopping scene, the Sony Xperia Tablet S will be purchasable in Singapore starting today.

Powered by the Ice Cream Sandwich flavoured Android 4.0, the tablet sports a 9.4 inch display with 1280 x 800 pixel screen.

The Sony product will be available at S$749 (US$613) for a 16GB, 3G enabled version.

One of the highlighted features of the tablet its 'splash-proof design'. In October, Sony halted sales of the Xperia S in the markets it was available in at the time, due to a problem with the 'splash-proof specification'. It was reported that a slight gap between the display panel and the back cover was what caused the issue.

Sony offered complimentary repairs and subsequently fixed the design flaw. The Sony Xperia Tablet S arriving in Singapore should not harbour this problem.

Ratings by both CNet and Techradar give the Sony Xperia S three out of five stars, calling it a sleek professional looking device that has a few performance issues.
