Dell Inc. has announced release of its SuperMassive 9800 next generation firewall (NGFW) and its complementary management and reporting Global Management System (GMS) 8.0.
A press statement by the Round Rock, Texas-based vendor of computer technology said the new release is the most powerful in its SuperMassive 9000 series of NFGWs. It claimed that as such, it brings to midsize and enterprise organizations the same robust protection as Dell's flagship series of SuperMassive 1000 series of NGFWs gives to large enterprises.
It added that GMS 8.0 complements the SuperMassive 9800 and other Dell NGFWs to enable organizations to consolidate management of security appliances.
At the same time, it simplifies their administration and troubleshooting by enabling governance of all aspects of the security infrastructure.
Some of these would be centralized policy management and enforcement, real time event monitoring, analytics and reporting.
The press statement claimed that the new NGFW's Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection (RFDPI) single pass threat protection search engine searches more levels of data, every element of every packet to identify threats while operating on a scaleable foundation.
It also supports up to millions of simultaneous connections at near-zero latency.
