HONG KONG, 28 JULY 2009 Leo Paper, a Hong Kong-based paper products manufacturer, has adopted radio-frequency identification (RFID) and complex event process (CEP) technologies among its enterprises across China.
Leo Paper's RFID comprises an RFID logistics solution used mainly in warehousing for warehouse control and parts management. The paper manufacturer has also adopted a RFID Truck Flow Management Solution that is expected to reduce truck idle time and increase automation of deliveries.
By introducing CEP technologies, Leo Paper and Progress Software, a US-based business applications provider, will leverage RFID technology into high volume environments such as those found with fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and also where a large amount of shipments need to be completed in a short period of time.

Complex event process technology
The Progress Apama CEP platform is targeted at organisations across different verticals to apply low-latency strategies and processes to rapidly moving event streams. Customers can use Apama to monitor, analyse, and act on fast-moving data in real time. The CEP platform also transforms RFID signals into transactional data.
With the CEP platform, users can also view information of value more clearly, thus controlling RFID-enabled operations more responsively. It allows for an integration environment that can synchronise RFID data streams with business events captured from different middleware systems, applications and other endpoints, without disrupting the current IT infrastructure.
