KUALA LUMPUR, 28 JULY 2008 - Malaysian government research agency MIMOS has agreed to collaborate in microelectronics and optoelectronics research for use in information security with three Indonesian universities.
This collaboration with the three institutions -- Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Institut Teknologi Sepuloh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya and Universitas Indonesia -- further strengthens MIMOS's network of dedicated partners and provides MIMOS with the opportunity to further extend its pool of virtual researchers, according to MIMOS president and chief executive officer, Dato' Abdul Wahab Abdullah.
The memorandum of understanding was witnessed by Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili and Indonesia's Minister of Research and Technology (RISTEK) Professor Dr Kusmayanto Kadiman.
Our collaboration with the three Indonesian universities further extends MIMOS' pool of virtual researchers and empowers them in undertaking market driven strategic applied research, aimed at growing globally competitive indigenous industries and building technology competencies in driving Centres of Excellence in frontier technologies, Abdul said.
