With each stage having its own unique characteristics, Websense recommends specific real-time defences as traditional defences mainly focus on the fourth stage and known threats by looking at malware files. Websense said traditional defences, in large part, are ineffective. "Advanced threats use unique dropper files that go undetected by traditional defenses for hours or days," said a company statement.
Websense Security Labs also studied more than 200,000 Android apps and similarly noted a "noticeable quantity" of malicious intents or permissions.
